My first craftshow
I had my very first craft show last Saturday at NPCC, and I was grateful to share the space with the Calligraphy Guild. I’ll be honest—my nerves were definitely along for the ride. Weeks of preparation went into this one day: creating pieces, deciding which ones to bring, asking friends and neighbours for feedback, and double-checking every tiny detail on my checklist. It was both exciting and a little overwhelming.
But more than anything, what I carry with me is gratitude.
I’m thankful for the friends who showed up for me—not just by stopping by, but through ideas, suggestions, honest opinions, and so much encouragement. I’m incredibly grateful for the Calligraphy Arts Guild of Toronto, whose community has been a constant source of support ever since I first picked up the broad pen and, later, the pointed pen back in 2018. Trying new things has been such a joy, especially learning to enjoy the journey instead of rushing the outcome.
A heartfelt thank you to Jenn Sweeney and Imogene Partridge—two artists I deeply admire, who generously shared their wisdom and kindness and helped quiet my anxious heart. And of course, to my husband, who has cheered me on with so much patience (even as the dining table slowly disappeared under piles of supplies!) and who helped haul everything to the show. His support means more than he knows.
Today, I’m reminded that I always learn something new and that I can be a little braver exploring the unknown because of the community around me. And for that—more than anything—I’m grateful. ✨
